The operator competence scheme (sometimes known as a “WAMITAB” or CoTC) is designed to allow permitted waste facilities in England and Wales to demonstrate they employ technically competent people with the knowledge and skills to ensure waste sites comply with Environmental Permitting Regulations (2007).  Delyn Safety UK via an accredited partner can offer high quality training and assessment service in the delivery of qualifications under the WAMITAB / CIWM Operator Competence Scheme.

Under the OCC scheme facilities are listed under Risk Headings for each type of facility – learners achieve the relevant qualification by demonstrating their competence in each appropriate unit of the Certificate, typically these would be:

  • WAMITAB Low Risk4 Unit QCF Qualification
  • WAMITAB Medium Risk6 Unit QCF Qualification
  • WAMITAB High Risk 12 Unit QCF Qualification

As there are over 120 awards covering all aspects of waste management, including street cleansing, weighbridge, pet cemeteries up to high risk facilities such as Hazardous Transfer Station and Landfill

Please call Delyn Safety to discuss your individual requirements on 01352 756 114

Please note it remains the responsibility of the Operator, in discussion with the appropriate Regulatory Agency, to ensure that the qualification, units or training programme selected for that activity is appropriate for their site.
